I’ve been found. After spending time on Twitter, Plurk and various other social networking sites, as well as writing this blog, someone decided to tag me in a meme. One of my social networking friends from the Pocono Real Estate Blog, Lisa Sanderson, decided to name me in her meme post. I’ve been following her posts in my Google Reader for a while now and I like her style.
So what do I have to do? Well, share 6 things with you, my reader, I mean readers that you wouldn’t necessarily know about me unless I told you. Potentially embarrassing, though not too much. I have to keep some secrets, right?
Enough chit-chat, it’s time to get cracking in no particular order:
1. I was adopted. Usually, when you say that, people start looking at you like you should have an extra finger or something. I can honestly say I only have 10, though there could be a case for an extra one or two. No, it simply means my parents wanted a child and I was their best option at the time. I love them for that. It’s not a disease, it’s just adoption.
2. I do most of the cooking in the family. Many people are surprised by this, but I’ve done most of the cooking in the house since my wife and I were married. I’ve been cooking since I high school when I started my first job in a now defunct restaurant (and no I had nothing to do with it closing). While I love cooking all cuisines, my wife says that my Chinese cooking is some of my best. It must of been all the Yan Can Cook shows I used to watch. While I can, I don’t really make desserts, but wife get’s better and better at it every time.
3. I’m not a big beach person. While I’ve enjoyed my beach vacations, I don’t like sitting on the beach tanning. I do like playing in the waves, but that only lasts for so long. If I do go for a week, I’d rather go fishing. I much prefer vacations to parks and historic sites, like this years to Williamsburg, VA.
4. Speaking of fishing, I’ve been making an annual trip to Erie, PA, for the last few years with a small group (along with all the others that make the trip) to catch steelhead on their annual trek up the Erie tributaries. It’s been cold, rainy and snowy at some points, but I love the whole trip. The smoked steelhead we bring home is a real treat at parties.
5. While it’s hard to find time, I love woodworking and I’ve made quite a few pieces for our house. I’ve made our kitchen table, dining room table, dry sink, bathroom mirror and numerous other smaller projects. It’s like therapy when I find the time. Unfortunately, my tools have been sitting more than they’ve been used lately. I’ve enjoyed working with tools since my visits to Grandpa’s house as a child.
6. I was in a high school rock band. I know, who wasn’t right? Well this is my six things and you wouldn’t know that unless you told me. I played bass and guitar. I sang backup, which was small parts, because except when I’m alone in the car with the windows rolled up, I probably shouldn’t sing in public. I still think we were robbed in the one Battle of the Bands that we participated. We were so much better than at least 2 of those 3 bands that won. We were robbed!!!
That was interesting and took a little longer than I expected. I’m sure there are plenty of more embarrassing things I could tell, but I probably suppressed them or didn’t want to give away EVERYTHING.
And now, for something completely different. OK, not really, but now I must tag 6 more people to perform this non-optional, blog it somewhere, exercise.
Tag, your it:
@mmWine
@sbwolfe
Tina Merritt
Todd Waller
Ravi Shah
